Who I am

John Adams has a wealth of experience dealing with trusts, estates, individuals and families, providing compliance and tax planning services. As a specialist in the field he has extensive experience of this potentially very complex area and can demonstrate great success in minimising potential tax burdens for his clients.

John is a highly regarded Ilkley-based chartered accountant who, in 2013, left his general practice to focus on trust and estate work for his clients.

After gaining a first class honours degree as a mechanical engineer John joined Horwath Clark Whitehill in Keighley and soon after qualifying as a chartered accountant he set up on his own. More recently John earned his STEP Diploma for Accountants and Tax Practitioners achieving joint top nationwide. With the required experience and qualification John is now a full member of STEP.

In his spare time John is a keen traveller and enjoys the outdoors, along with border collie Moss, as well as listening to music while enjoying a glass of wine. He’s also used his engineering background both to take on building projects at his home and to apply a real “hands on” philosophy to his work. As he says, ”My approach is to identify what needs to be done, formulate the best method and then get on with it.”
